To raise awareness among residents of the province of Utrecht about what can be placed in textile containers, a comic strip was developed and applied as a sticker on the containers. In addition to raising awareness, the comic strip shows what happens to the donated clothing. This project is a collaboration between Afval van Utrecht and Reshare, a division of the Salvation Army focused on textile collection.

In collaboration with the consultancy and campaign agency Van Loof, I illustrated the comic strip and contributed to the development of the storyline.

To make as much impact as possible, it is important that the comic strip stands out and grabs the attention of residents. The comic positively highlights what can go into the textile containers and explains the process that donated textiles go through. This positive approach is reflected in the storyline by focusing on what can be placed in the containers, rather than on what cannot.

The comic visualizes the story, avoiding the need for extensive reading. Additionally, a cheerful and colorful design was chosen to emphasize positivity and encourage residents to engage with the comic.

Through a QR code on the container, the comic is also available in English and Arabic—languages frequently spoken in relation to the textile containers.
